Group Participation

Much of the joy of this exercise comes when you open it up to as many people as possible. When others participate, it clearly reveals a golden thread of humanity - of love and life - that we all share, and it brings out the very best in everyone involved.

There is something so childlike and rewarding about cutting out these butterflies, coloring them, and writing messages of hope and inspiration on the backs. Though it may seem a bit awkward and unusual to ask random people to get involved, it gives them a chance to express their compassionate nature and they will walk away feeling better for it.

It's a great exercise to open up to school children or to your co-workers.

By including lots of people, it will also show the recipient of the butterflies how far out of the way you went to collect such priceless messages of goodwill!
